Our
story
her side
As much as the feminist in me hates to admit it, Andrey fell in love with me because of my cooking. For those of you who know Andrey (or me), you know that pretty much every part of our story involved food.
Whether it was taking care of him during the dance comp he skipped for ‘food poisoning’ (and realizing that even in that state, I liked him!) or how a NYC burger place is an integral part of our decision making (we accidentally decided to move to NYC after eating at Bareburger, and we accidentally had a conversation about having an awesome, forever-life together on our way to Bareburger a few years later).
We’ve had a lot of adventures, but they all involve food (well, you’ve gotta eat!). Over our three plus years together, we explored foods in our Boston, New York, Chicago, Boulder, and Austin neighborhoods. We’ve hunted for the best hot chocolate in NYC and sampled croissants all over Paris. We’ve found the most amazing Indian/ Mexican/ Italian fusion restaurant you can imagine and planned a bunch of trips around it, and we once impressed Italians by how much we could eat in one sitting (4 courses of the world’s best lasagna - with room for dessert).
And now we can’t wait to celebrate that we’ll be sharing the rest of our lives together with our favorite foods (and people)!

leo's side
Mom and Dad are the greatest! I have no clue what's going on next November, but it's going to be awesome! Every day is the greatest! Especially when there's food!
Can't wait to lick your face!
his side
“Why don’t you try out with Mandi?” Katya asked me. Because she’s in champ and I’m in gold and she’s way better at ballroom than I am and always will be. I was, of course, right as usual. Nonetheless, at Katya’s suggestion, Mandi asked me for a tryout 3 weeks later and we soon became dance partners.
Four months later Mandi sent me an email. This by itself was unsurprising, currently in my inbox 13 of the 15 most recent emails are from Mandi. However, the contents were rather strange; she had asked me on a date! This made very little sense; Mandi had never shown any romantic interest in me (she later informed me that she’d been flirting with me for weeks), nor did I think she was after my big grad student stipend (although it had just gone up by 3% to adjust for inflation).
No matter the cause, the wise words of both Admiral Ackbar and Peppy Hare resounded with me; it was clearly a trap, so I declined Mandi’s invitation. Over the course of the next week I wondered if perhaps I had made a mistake. Mandi was smart; technically savvy; and, most importantly, had a strong understanding of microeconomics. The next week I asked her if her invitation was still open, and it has been happily ever after ever since! </cliché>
